What we’re talking about:
Today I’m chatting with Heshi, who has just completed a Bachelor of Film and Television (Honours) at Swinburne. We discuss the idea that you can change your mind anywhere along the way and none of it is wasted, as well as looking in detail at the course and the careers that you can pursue as a graduate student.
There are no mistakes
Media was the only VCE subject that Heshi completed Units 1-4 as she changed her mind about what she wanted to pursue halfway through. Later on, she missed out on her first preference and started one course, nearly began another one interstate, but realised that Swinburne was where she wanted to study so came back and applied again and got into her dream course. We discuss the fact that there are always transferable skills and knowledge that you will continue to use throughout your life and career.
Bachelor of Film and Television
Heshi explains that in the first 2 years you get exposed to all the various roles in the industry and then you decide which stream you want to pursue. In the last two years you work as a team to create a grad film that you can enter into festivals and use to help you network and get access to job opportunities.
Careers in Film and Television
Heshi discusses the idea that there are actually more opportunities, including state-funded ones in Victoria, than most people think. She also talk about the internships she was able to do as a student and her current role as a grad in an advertising agency.
